Doc Hanson is a non-playable survivor in State of Decay and is Trumbull Valley's resident Doctor. He is an unlockable hero in the Breakdown DLC.
Biography[]
He is first mentioned after Marcus Campbell, Ed Jones, and Maya Torres arrive at the Church of the Ascension because he will be needed to help save Ed. Later on, he will be found at the Old Barrett Place with the Wilkerson Brothers. Doc Hanson is taking care of Eli Wilkerson who was injured earlier.
Doc Hanson is described by Lily as "good people but can be a little crusty sometimes". The Doc is considered crusty because he refuses to join an enclave. His reasoning for not joining an enclave is that it would impede his ability to look after all his patients. The Doc is called a real-time country doctor since he makes house calls to residents.
Later on, in the "Help Doc Hanson" mission, he will need to be rescued from a large number of zombies at a graveyard. Afterwards, if Doc Hanson is rescued, he explains that he was visiting his late wife Gina who passed away before the events of the game. He explains that he has found himself visiting her grave often to talk and feels she would have handled everything much better than he has.

He is called "The Healer". In the game, if he is part of the community he will provide the "Medical Advice" option on the radio.
